Hi! I’m Max.
I’m a developer from Mannheim, Germany and currently employed by SAP.
In my free time (and sometimes during working hours) I’m a volunteer firefighter.
What have I done so far?
I started my professional career by studying International Business Administration and Information Technology at Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society in a dual studies / vocational training program in cooperation with SAP. During that time I had the opportunity to work in multiple different teams at SAP for a few months each. After I finished my bachelor’s degree I was taken on by SAP and now work full time.
What do I do?
My team maintains the ingress / routing layer of the SAP Business Technology Platform, Cloud Foundry runtime and other networking related resources in this environment. As a part of that I mainly develop GoLang, Python and shell scripts. Since we deploy an open-source application runtime I’m able to participate in the open-source community (see Projects for more details).
Other tools that are at the core of our development processes and that I’m familiar with: git, linux, openssl, docker(-compose), IDEs (mainly from JetBrains), Jira.
What else?
Besides the usual coding and bug fixing I enjoy hunting down tricky bugs that only appear once the release reached the production system.
Most things related to networking also catch my interest. I’m constantly expanding my knowledge about the various protocols that make up the internet as we know it, how they interact and what they are used for.
What am I looking forward to?
I would like to do more open-source work and get more involved with projects that I rely on. Other low-level programming languages are something I want to explore (mainly C and Rust), although it seems like I got pretty stuck with Go for now. And of course there is the ever-growing list of project ideas that I want to tackle but never find the time for.
Besides those things I’m always on the lookout for opportunities to learn something new. If you have something that might interest me, hit me up: hi@moehl.eu.
